Toyota Camry Consumer Report Testing

Toyota Camry Proving It Still Is King!

2012 Toyota Camry at Jerry's Toyota Baltimore, MD
Toyota Camry has had a long history of being the dominant vehicle in the family car sector. After reading through Consumer Report’s February issue it doesn't like the king of the family cars will be dethroned any time soon.

Consumer Reports is an independent car testing organization that performs scientific tests and ratings of thousands of products yearly. On its February issue the organization carried out tests on three different
2012 Camry models, including its newly redesigned hybrid model.

All three models received the much wanted “Recommended” tag, beating out Volkswagen's all-new Passat, due to the Camry’s more agile handling, enhanced interior and better fuel economy. The hybrid model in particular received much praise for its superior 38 mpg rating.

While the 38 mpg rating barely beat out the Passat (It received a 37 mpg rating), its superior interior quality and handling gave the Camry the edge over the Passat.

The only drawback we (and many other Camry reviewers) noticed with the Camry Hybrid is that it does have a slightly smaller trunk than the regular Camry’s. What is the Camry Hybrid’s counter argument? Its quicker acceleration provided from its 200-horsepower, 2.5-liter four cylinder hybrid drivetrain engine… Touché Camry.

The revised Camry beat out its fiercest rivals the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata in order to top Consumer Reports' list of 30 different family sedans. (Note- For our Car Battles Edition pitting the 2012 Camry vs. the 2012 Hyundai Sonata go to

With a fantastic fuel economy of 38 mpg and high ratings for its reliability, the Toyota Camry proves that America’s car is worthy of the title of best family sedan.
